Globopolis is a new board game from Michael Lasher. The basic idea it to take over the world… and the space cities that are in orbit. A little like a fusion other classic board games like "Monopoly", "Supremacy", and "Settlers of Catan", this game adds several levels of complexity and makes this much more of a strategy game. From taking over guilds, territories, sending out agents, and taking trips aboard the Orbital Rocket Shuttle Service to managing and trading resources, this game will be sure to entertain those that are looking for a new game to play.

If I were to describe a game of monopoly on a global scale rather than street scale, you would say 'so what'. However, add into the mix a range of mission and operation cards, a resource allocation and building program, an element of espianage with spy counters and the ability to conquer your opponents countries and this is what you have.
This is of course a gross over simplification from the game as a whole.
The game of globopolis is set in the future, after a global disaster has rendered most of the planets surface uninhabitable and forced mankind to seek refuge in vast orbiting cities.

I was very impressed with this game upon opening the box. It has a first class looking instruction book. The bits are top notch, very functional and remind you of lego pieces. The money is made from the same stock as a deck of cards (which always makes an impression on me) & there is a nice compact cardboard "cheat sheet" of condensed rules inlcuded for quick reference. The board itself is also quite nice & grabs your attention but does give a simple impression that not a lot of different things will be happening on it.
